Electronic producer upsammy is more or less her own genre. Thessa Torsing’s quirky, constantly shapeshifting sound gleefully travels outside of club conventions like a kid skipping class. Throwing sonic curveball after sonic curveball never sways her audiences, especially those attuned to the unexpected. Pitchfork’s review of full-length debut Zoom confirms as much: “Straight lines aren’t really her thing, and depending on her mood, she’s as likely to hit crowds with low-key ambient bliss as she is intense blasts of off-kilter electro.”
