Karima El Fillali performs Oum Kalthoum
Sunday
21:15 - 22:00
Karima el Fillali is a Dutch-Moroccan singer who became enraptured by tarab music. With this concert El Fillali pays tribute to the phenomenal Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum, together with musicians of the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra and top Arab musicians. The queen of the tarab - also called the “Star of the Orient” - surrounded herself with the best composers and poets of her time. Together they wrote history. Oum Kalthoum even managed to sell more records than The Beatles. This performance features songs from different periods in the life of Oum Kalthoum.
