Waseem Alkahadraa & Lisette van der Laak
Hosted by RAUM & Dreaming of Syria
The combination of a beatbox-specialist and a flute player might seem rather unusual, Waseem Alkahadraa and Lisette van de Laak are well-equipped to use their respective disciplines to tell a story together. Alkahadraa fled from Syria to the Dutch city of Apeldoorn in 2016, and ever since, he has expressed his desire to test his skills in combination with other instrumentalists. Van de Laak, a music teacher and session player, will accompany him.
This performance is part of a collaboration with Dreaming Of Syria, a foundation setting programs that stimulate the inclusion of non-Western audiences and performers. As a musical companion to RAUM’s Living Apart Together expo, they’ve invited artists to create a performance around its central theme: loneliness in the city.
